Today, the citizens of Phillip came together to sign the Constitution and officially declare independence from the United States. In total, twelve people participated in the signing, including founders Cooper Norfolk, Jaxson Renny, Reed Von, and Owen Itzen.
Now that Phillip has been officially established, the provisional government will hold the first General Election. Currently, the candidates for President are acting President Jaxson Renny and Reed Von from the Butter Butta Bentley, Riley Cook from the Cork Party, Owen Itzen from the Ugandan-Ngombe QAnon Social Worker's Coalition and Nick Waro from the Radical Party. Acting President Jaxson Renny, whose center-right political party claims membership of the majority of Phillip's citizens, is favored heavily to win this election. In the National Assembly, seven seats are up for grabs. Five seats have already been confirmed because candidates were running uncontested. Three seats will be taken by the Butter Butta Bentley Party and two by the UNQSWC. The seats for representative of Port Phillip and the collective territories have multiple candidates running for them, but it is likely that the Butter Butta Bentley Party will take both seats.
The election is planned to take place on the 11th of January with a presidential debate scheduled for the 10th.
